Figures on figures

Is presenting the female in contemporary painting also involving presentation of a commodity? By this I do not mean the obvious advertising appearance based on pretense or personal aspiration. Rather I'm interested in examining a brief glimpse of a personal image and the identity attached to it. The paintings are first and foremost about paint and the female form. The figure is shown in a traditional perception of space; at the same time another identity is suggested on a flat numeric plane. Red numerals create a surface that interfaces with the monochromatic tonal painting. How much of our identity today is dependent on digital data? At best these works suggest re-examining contemporary female figuration and how much of appearance is dependent upon social or aesthetic views; or is the real identity defined by the numerical data?
