Abstracted Landscapes at Mountain Park Galleries
For years I accepted landscape as having a prescribed look. I live in a country with a strong landscape tradition or genre. But, I refuse to trade totally in the currency of this established look.
A few years ago
"maps.google.com" gave us a radical new view of our familiar space. Similarly the look of my paintings pushed to flatten the planes and create shape relationships. Re-inventing the thought of landscape has changed the content of my works, forcing a re-examination of spatial relationships. The painting grows and is dependent upon the tension suggested by these landforms.
Currently there are five paintings at Mountain Park Galleries that originated as a result of considering landscape spaces anew.
For information on these paintings contact: Wendy at Mountain Galleries at the Fairmont or visit their web site at http://www.mountaingalleries.com.
